Our Story

The Origin of ORIGO

Latin for origin, root or source.

ORIGO began with a question: how did we as humans care for our bodies and homes before more products and more ingredients became the answer – and how can we make those essentials exceptionally well today?

Turns out before over-consumption, and formulas with a surplus of ingredients (that are really hard to pronounce), nature had enough.

Rooted in where we come from. Handmade for where we are going.

A sense of origin

Everyday care holds generations of knowledge passed from one pair of hands to another. Our ancestors made much of a few ingredients, learning how to work with the oils, fats and botanicals available to them. ORIGO starts there, asking what deserves a place in the way we live now.

Everything has its place

We ask something of every ingredient, it should serve a purpose. Each addition is a decision. So is knowing when to stop.

ORIGO is working to develop animal-fat and oil-based soaps for an effective clean and to leave the skin soft and comfortable. The way nature intended.

The work of our hands

The maker’s secret made simple. Attention to the materials. Patience with the process. Care for the texture, the form, the way something feels in use. This is what handmade means to us.

ORIGO products are crafted using local, organic ingredients in southeastern Pennsylvania. We are fortunate to make our home among farms and growers whose work makes ours possible.

From body to home

We believe products that touch our skin and home should be made with ingredients that belong to the life of nature surrounding us. ORIGO brings this life into view: the bathroom shelf, the kitchen sink, the things we reach for without thinking. Everyday essentials, worthy of the place they hold.

We left to find our way. Along the way, we began to reconsider what we carried.

Southeastern Pennsylvania was where our story began and where it continues. But our roots stretched beyond it. Cameron carried the histories of Hungary and Sweden. Riley’s roots reached across the Mediterranean, through Italy and Greece, and back to Slovakia. Different landscapes, different traditions, different inheritances—each a reminder that the way we live today was shaped by what came before us.

Across America, we followed the open road—through unfamiliar towns, forgotten histories, and places that asked us to look a little closer. Across Europe, we found new ways of seeing in old ways of living—in the markets, at the table, and in the care given to things made to last.

Travel has a way of stripping life back to what matters. What we carry. What we consume. What we trust enough to put on our skin, bring into our homes, and make part of our everyday lives.

We began to look differently at the things surrounding us. The ingredients we never understood. The products we used without question. The distance between what nature had always offered and what modern life had taught us to reach for.

And beneath all the movement, there was something steadier: the instinct to protect what we love. Each other. Our health. The small, ordinary rituals that make a life feel like our own.

ORIGO began there.

With questions about what we had come to rely on and what we might have overlooked.

A return to the source—not as a step backward, but as a way forward.
